I have a '92 3.2 DOHC V6 where the motor won't turn. I thought it was the starter motor but removed and checked it and it is all O.K. I then tried to turn the motor over at the crank pulley nut with a socket and 2ft power bar but the engine still will not budge.I removed the plugs but it still won't budge. It appears that it has seized. (motor has oil and water). Any ideas how to check what is wrong?

Not good! Is this manual or auto and what happened before this? Things to be checking first would be check cam belt, Will the motor turn backwards (only a little bit) Remove gearbox ant try again, Remove heads and try again Replace engine and try again. This last one should work Good luck

Hi,A "friend" was using the vehicle and said that the battery went flat.He then tried to jump start it and this is when the motor locked up, forgot to mention that cam belt was O.K. The vehicle is an auto - tried to turn the motor in N either way but no joy.

Suggest you get the vehicle to a professional outfit and tell your erstwhile friend to get his cheque book out pronto! David.

That would depend on what is meant by "jump start" I read this as useing a slave battery and jump start leads which cant cause problems. You apparantly mean what I would call a push or tow start that wouldnt work but I wouldnt of thought would of damaged anything as there would be no fluid in the torque converter A transmision would be cheaper to fix than an engine though.

Apparently you can push start an automatic, but you have to get up to 30kph (or is tha mph?) for it to work. I'd never try it personally.
Graham.

Old borg warner autos could be tow started as the oil pump was on the tail shaft Modern autos have the oil pump on the input so cant get presure untill the engine is running No presure no torque converter no start
