Hi fellers I am in the process of removing the starter motor of my 94 Bighorn to check its unreliability in starting. I managed to get the two holding bolts out. I think they were tightened up by a guerrilla on steroids!!! I think I cracked a rib with the force needed. There is not enough room to maneuver it out past the dip stick tube. Is this welded into the block or will it come apart if I take the two bolts out? Any help would be appreciated Thanks Ken.

Dipstick tube is held on by just the small bolts at the base and is sealed by an oring. There is also a b Expect a little mess when you remove it. The full line on the stick is level with the hole in the block. ie if your overfull it will overflow

With mine I've found removing the bolts on the top end of the dipstick is enough to push it out of the way and pass up the starter motor. A compressed air rattle gun is good for starter removal.... a bit awarkward to get it positioned and a ring spanner on the other side but one burst and you are done.... I had a few starter problems a while back and got it down to a fine art of about 7minutes for removal...
