Hi everyone. Apparently a leaking main seal is pretty common. After an oil change and without added treatment, mine drips about one or two drops of oil after stopping to park. This stops by adding some seal reviver, but what I need to find out is: if the seal is in this condition, if ignored, does it get continually worse where a total loss of oil can occur over a short period of time, does the dripping slowly increase, or does it just stay as a minor inconvenience. Cheers, and thanks in advance Ian

Couple of bits to this so not that simple. I would never consider stop leak a permanent fix although compared to the cost of dropping the gearbox I would use it for as long as it works. Sometimes the leak is due to old seals but once the oil has been in the bellhousing and all the clutch dust in there its hard to tell which it is. You might need to treat the gearbox as well. The rear main will leak even if in good condition if the sump is over filled. Never ever fill past the full line. Engines with large amounts of blow by will leak oil from the seal and short of a fullrecon there is little you can do.
