I am currently in the process of lifting my 91 Mu. So far we are going to wind up the torsion bars on the front to 2 inches and do the ball joint flip. Problem is i have no idea where to get spacers or extenders for the leaf springs at the back any help would be appreciated BTW i live near Penrith NSW so close by there would also be heplful. Also where can i get a body lift done in this area also and a rough cost. Much Appreciated to anyones time in this matter CHEERS

2 ways of lifting the rear. 1 extended shackles. These can be bought off the shelf (search the web for prices) or made by a freindly engineer . 2 new rear springs Most come as a 50mm lift Try EFS or ARB or OME or Lovels Get the ones for a 89 jackeroo but do not buy the heavy duty type for a Mu

i would recomened the longer shackels, i got a work buddy to make me up a set and cost me 1l of jimbean($40), peice a cake to fit too.
this with the torsion wind up and a set of 32' tyers and now she clears the ground a hell of a lot better than standard.

If you want off-the-shelf stuff then Snake Racing have just started stocking Calmini gear - they are at Penshurst, might be worth talking to them. Their web site is www.snakeracing.com.au/

In saying that i wound the bejesus outta em at the end of it all & they never snapped on me? Now they still serve a purpose which have been part of my ramp construction ;D That my 2c tho cheers muvit

Hey Blowout,
Wouldn't be too concerned about snapping the torsion bar. My truck is the same as yours (I think I met you just after you bought yours in Henry St Penrith). I'm pretty sure mine has the standard bars that have been wound up. With 31 x 10.5 x 15 Coopers on it measures about 900mm to the top of the wheel arch. During some recent work I have wound the bars myself and it's an easy, painless excercise (as long as you don't skin your knuckles). Can't comment on impact to articulation however I have no complaints.
The back of mine looks to have heavy duty leafs as it has one more leaf than the red MU I sold recently. Reading a few other posts they recommend only getting standard heightened ones due to harsh ride and loss of articulation. I'd agree with that as mine rides a little rough in the back. Or even easier, go the longer shackels. All up quite a cheap lift that I believe you'll find worthwhile.
