Hi eveybody, Just about finished rebuilding my 4jb1t from my MU. After pulling the engine and inverting the block to undo the sump, I found a 3mm diameter ball bearing on the ground. I suspect it has something to do with the oil pump or assmbly where the oil filter does up. I have posted this elsewhere but am getting desperate. Any help appreciated. Jason

Well just for a follow up. I pit the engine back together without the bearing and it goes great. Seems my exhaust manifold was a little loose, so engine is a little quieter now .

It didn't happen to come from a ratchet you may have used?(the 3mm ball I mean)

does the oil pressure relief valve have a ball in it on the 4jb1t?
