I have a 2.8 dt pickup. When I drive between 2800 and 3200 revs the truck looses power. It feels like taking you foot of the accelerator and then putting it back(surging).I need your opinions guys .It runs quite normal while driving slowly and smoothly on city driving. Can it be the turbo or not as the exhaust manifold are leaking a little bit.On acceleration the truck goes with no problem.I also don't see a lot of black smoke aswell. The truck starts easily any time. What about injectorsor the fuel pump. Please help......

First guess change air and fuel filters. could be the pump or injectors could also be the vent in the fuel tank. one thing to check that isnt to nice is that the crackshaft pulley is tight. Behind this pulley is a keyed spacer and cambelt pully. If the pulley gets loose which happens if the mechanic that last changed the cambelt undid the wrong nut The keyway wears affecting all the timing

I have replaced the air filter, diesel filter and checked the pully. All are in good condition. Can it be fuel starvation eg:somewhere there is a diesel pipe sucking air?
If I drive below 2600 rpm the truck goes fine without any problems and above 3300 rmp aswell.

It does sound like fuel starvation... but you have now done/cheked all the usual things.

Hi all,
I have traced all the fuel lines and didn't find any leak.
What can the symptoms be when the exhaust manifold are leaking?

If the exhaust is leakin it will be noisy Unlikly to affect performance unless its a large leak between the manifold and turbo

Thanks for all the feedback.I have decided to replace all the fuel pipes. After that I tested the truck again and it was purring like a kitten again.Tha truck has almost 400 000 km on the clock and I would say that this is the best service I have received out of a engine.
