Hi I have a 91 MU 2.8L T D and it has alot of grey smoke in 1st and 2nd gear and has a little diesel smell when driving . Can anyone tell me whats wrong and how to fix it.

Sounds like bad injectors but could also be bad tubo, leaky head, leaky rings injector pump or clogged air filter.
Checks in order of ease and cost.
check air filter
check for oil in water and water in oil
check for excess fumes at the oil filler cap both cold and hot
check exhaust for obvious damage
Bottle of injector cleaner in the fuel tank This one is optional as it sounds a little severe for this to work
Then off to the mechanic to have a compression/leakdown test and injector service
