Earlier on i started a thred "Spungy Brake pedal". Well I found couse and solution.. When you replace the front pads and pump up the brake pedal dont press it more than 1 inch at a time or you are risking of pinching the secondary piston seal in the master cylinder.. After you pinch the seal the brake pedal will develop a sinking feeling ,usually at traffic lights when you hold it firm. It will get worse and worse untill complete failure of the seal, than the pedal will sink half way to the floor before any braking will commence. The fix for it is "MCX brake parts" Qld (for those in Aus) Part number KX2633X . It is listed in JKC Catalog as "Isuzu/Jackaroo/Rodeo Granade style master cylinder repair kit. There are 2 types 1 inch and .75 inch. There is a number and name stamped on the side of the cyliner . My is "JKC 1" ---1 is for 1 inch obviously--- The above part number is for 1inch master cylinder Isuzu Mu 1994 3.1 TD. It costs shipped to Syd $110.00 through "Master brake and clutch 94 Parramatta rd Croydon." I'll put it on tonight and test it.

Well it did not work the way i thought. Replaced all seals bled the sucker on the bench, installed it and no joy. The primary seal (front brakes) bypassing fluid. There is flow (I had it vaccum bled) but will not develop any presssure (front wheels spinning freely). So next is getting a new master cylinder. Holden wants $645.00 inc GST. I'll ring some NZ wrackers maybe i'll get it cheaper.. Qld wracker quoted me $97.00 second hand. But this one might be stuffed too....

Before you do unhook the front brake line and make sure you have pressure or not at the outlet of the master cylinder. I had a similar prob with my clutch It was a (censored) of a job getting the air out of the vertical section of line. Each time I stopped to fill the resivoir the air ran back to the center of the pipe. It works now but theres still air in there.

Allan, I did what u described. after intensive manual bleeding I drove to local Brake shop and got them to vaccum bleed the system. They did that but the primary seal would not develop any hydraulic pressure and the front wheels would free spin. I contacted Davie motors in Aukland tonight via email. Hope they will have a replacement (New) master cylinder. Unless somone in NZ would buy one ans send it over to Syd. The repair kit I got from Qld abnviously did not fit well and the seals are bypassing fluid.

A silly question You did put the seals in the right way round? They are designed to work one way only

Yup, pulled if off and checked it twice. Was told by holden and 2 several brake garages that this unit is a throwaway nonrepairable cylinder. It is net even listed in any of the aftermarket catalogues...

Just received mail from Paul at Davie Motors in Aukland regarding the master cylinder quote..---$508.50 inc GST plus freight (paulh@daviemotors.co.nz) Could anyone reading this ring davie holden and ask them about the price for this part (Ph 09 276 1937) And see if the price is same for locals. At this moment I got 2 choices genuine part $508.50 plus freight to syd , $645.00 genuine in sydney, or $95.00 plus freight to syd from "Bits for Isuzu" Aukland (Ph (09) 622-2072 )... and hope it is a good unit..

Mate, I dont believe there is anything throw away, especialy brake master cylinders!! If you can get parts for it, then it can be rekitted, there are no shims or mirrors involved!!
Unless when you strip it there is scoring in the bores of the cylinder then it is rekittable. Even if it is scored, then most can be stainless sleeved but this gets expensive!
Have you talked to PBR or ABS brakes, then do their own work too if you think its better for them to do it for you!
Try Burt Bros in Fairfield for some advice, they do anything to do with brakes and are always honest and upfront.
Goodluck but dont just fork out $500 for a new one!!
Matt.
