I am based in Wellington, New Zealand and own a 1998 Isuzu Wizard - the diesel 3.1 litre turbo model.
2 weeks ago I noticed coolant leaking from the vehicle. I took it to a mechanic who found the leak between the top tank and the core. He did manage to fix it. Now a week later, I noticed even more coolant leaking and this time it seems to be coming from the engine/fan belt side.
1. Any thought or suggestions on what might be wrong ?
2. Also, I have been searching like crazy for a workshop manual for the vehicle but can't find any ! Would really appreciate if you could help !

Thanks for your reply ! Okay, so I took the vehicle to the garage and after paying an arm and a leg, this is what they have done so far : 1. Fixed the radiator seal. 2. Replaced the water pump.
That apparently fixed it but not so ! The leak is back.
Are Isuzus this bad ?
Also, if you can email me on funbrat_2000@yahoo.com, we can tag up there regarding my postal address for the CD. Your offer is much appreciated. Thanks !!

98 3.1??? what are the first 5 digits of your chassis number? This will be U??69 or U??73 Likely causes are poorly fixed radiator, badly fitted water pump, leaking thermostat housing, or leaking hose. There are several hoses on the front of the engine some quite hard to see. All the good books say replace all hoses every 6 years but in reality they will last 10 or so as long as the anti freeze has been regularly replaced. Im not a fan of the spring clips used by every car maker in the world and will replace them with screw clamps where ever possible while I have it apart. Im up in Newlands If you give me a ring on 9386074 I should be able to have a quick look one evening this week What part of Wellington are you in?

i spent ages just looking at my engine trying to figure out where mine was leaking from, went under the Mu and looked up, used lights and mirrors, finnally came to a conclusion that it was comming from somewhere above the waterpump, so i pulled the fan off and belts, took the radiator out (gave it a big clean out) mine was leaking from either the top right side of the water pump or the seal behind it, or both, i took the water pump off the bearings were alittle iffy so replaced it, but also replaced some manky looking rustly bolts holding it on, torqued it to the manual settings and it hasnt used any water since.

another place to look is between the engine block and the front plate that the water pump bolts upto, it's not commen but if it's been used for without coolent in the water for any amount of time you can get some corrosion that then rots out the gasget between the two and heypresto you've got a leak. I know, cause it happened to my 2.8!
