I have noticed that my head Gasket is leaking and im just wondering has anyone changed one and whats the process involved...and how tight should it be when tightening the bolts back down......if this is any help its a 1995 jackaroo 3.1L Turbo Diesel....any help would good...thanx guys

3.1 diesel is a fairly standard engine so the process is much the same as any other car. There is a proper sequence for tightening the head bolts I can look up for you tonight if noone posts it earlier. The heads on these have been known to crack so it wouyld be very advisable to get the head crack tested while you have it off. Where are you?

yeah if you could look up the process it would be a great help...How much would it cost to get head crack tested?...I live in Parramatta, Sydney

You would have to ask a local engine reconditioner. They have the gear to do it and set the price. A cheap but not permanant fix is to use a bottle of Holts ironite. In other makes I have heard of cracked heads that have stopped leaking for over 3 years. Follow the instructions carefully.

basically work from the center out in 3 steps. 1st is 36 foot pound then next step is anouther 60 degrees then anouther 60degrees. Im about to send 6 documents on this to your hotmail hope it helps
