On the back of the deisel pump there is a solenoid controlling the deisel into the pump ( the lower one) I understand that when you turn the ignition on there is a 12 volt feed to this to open the valve. I have the 12 volt feed and when the wire is not connected to the solenoid there is 12 volt. Connect it together and the voltage drops to about 2 volt. I have tried to bypass the main wireing loom, via a relay and get 12 volt direct from the battery, but the same thing happens... Any ideas what would be causeing this?

Just for info, it takes about 9v to hold this solenoid open, so if your battery isn't charging you can keep driving until you get around 9v then no more fuel flow!!! One of those things to keep an eye on if you're wondering how far you can get for a must get home to fix it drive.
