Hi all
I can't seem to figure out how to connect my alarm to the hazard lights in my '92 Bighorn. Everything else is connected (central locking with help from James) but I just can't work it out!! Once again any help would be great!!

Well a simular method, find the hazard light switch and somehow get access to the back of it... again with the test lamp figure out which wires are on in time with the lights and you have one of the wires... repeat the search for the second wire... either that or activate the turn signal and look for that one wire one side at a time. You will need to use two diodes if your alarms has one wire as other wise you will be shorting the left and right side together.. i.e turn left and you get both lights just like the hazrds.... the other option is to flash the park lights.. simpler and one wire.

I was thinking of using the park lights as they do seem alot simpler, however I have tried to find the wire for the park lights but i just cannot seem to find it anywhere within the 6 other wires on the back of the lights switch on the dash! any ideas?¿ Sorry if I seem a bit thick, you'd think I'd know more about electrics being a theatre technician, but it's so much simpler working with mains power! (only three wires to deal with!)

Ok I found out that my switch is a negitive ground switch so I would have to put in a relay for the park lights!! Can you please give me some directions for the Hazard lights? I have two diods to put in, but I just need some pointers on how & where exactly to put them in!

Sorry for not helping with an answer sooner...
Neagtive ground? bummer?
Ok the question is if it really is? or does it drive a relay anywhere that you could use? Check at the park lights to see if they are live one side and the switch grounds the other side? If both sides are dead or 0V then there must be a relaly somewhere that inverts the switch and you can exploit for your use... or just tap into the wires behind the lights. :-)

I think in this case it's easier to put in two diods on the hazards! I had a play round with them today and managed to get them to work, and it doesn't short out when I use the turn signals! I was actually suprised how simple it was! all I did was connected the two diods to the one lead on my alarm and then connected them to the two seperate wires for the indicators! (one for each side) so I guess I've done it right coz it seems to work! Cheers for your help anyway! ;D Mike

Awsome, you got there in the end... it's satisfying doing your own work ins't it? especially when you know you have saved $ and still got what you wanted.
