can anyone help----my isuzu 2.8 deisel 1993 has an intermittant tacho---comes and goes at random---doesnt seem to be at any pattern maybe it is the sender playing up can anyone tell me where it is located.

Tacho takes it's feed from the alternator. Have to check your wiring & connections from there to the guage.

thanks for that will look into it on the weekend also have a problem with intermittant reversing lights any advice appreciated ---only aquired the vehicle 2 weeks ago happy with everthing except some electrical issues including the spots coming on with low beam that one should be only a hookup fix.

Reversing Lights - If you have an auto check the micro-switch on the shifter. If manual the switch is on the trans case. Also check the ground at the reversing lights.
Spots on low beam - need to change the feed from low beam to high.

My 2.8 mu gets its tacho signal from the fuel pump. The tacho works fine without an alternator in vehicle

NO PROBLEM WITH TACHO NOW GOT TO MULTI PLUG AT REAR OF INSTRUMENT PANEL WITH CRC NOW WORKS FINE--THANKS FOR YOUR HELP ----- TACHO SIGNAL COMES FROM FUEL PUMP---STILL CANT FIGURE WHERE THE REVERSING SWITCH IS-- HAD THE BEEP A FEW TIMES BUT HAVENT HAD IT LONG ENOUGH TO FIND WHERE IT IS COMING FROM----- MY IMPRESSIVE MU HAS BEEN STANDING FOR SOME TIME AND HAS HAD SOME ELECTRICAL PROBS MAINLY WITH SWITCHES IT IS AN AUTO DONE 190K BUT STILL LOOKS AND RUNS LIKE NEW.

The beeping comes from a small black box next to the shfter. Have to remove the console to get at it. The actual switch for reverse lights is on the shift mechanism - it's a small micro-switch.

Also, are you sure they are spots and not driving lights which would make sense that they can come on in low. This could be controlled by a switch on the dash. Just a thought ...

So sorry. Has been one of those months. Follow the fat red wire. That goes to a relay I wired in to switch the lights. J
