Hi.
I have a '96 Mu, with the Wizard dash.
I found out that the indicator lamp that is in the boot release switch is blown - actually, I only found out recently there was one!!! It had never worked, and only found out as a friend bought a Wizard and saw it on his!
Anyway, I removed the switch and found a spare bulb (I hope) in the switch housing. After replacing the blown one, it worked, although this was a green bulb... And then I found, earlier today, that it doesn't work anymore, bugger! Hopefully an old bulb??
I have been to Blackwells and they have sent me to another crowd with the p/n 39-47734 to buy, what looks like in the catalogue, the closest match. It is a 12V bulb. As I haven't had time yet to go to Civic Wholesale, am I getting the correct part??? And as the second one has failed, is it possible the switch itself is faulty? The boot release works fine.
Thanks.

if the bulb looks the same then in this instance it probably is. Its unusual for a switch to have a replaceable bulb

I've got the same dash. My hazard light and cold start buttons both blew their lights years ago. Are those bulbs replaceable? If so, how do you split the switches open? I was scared I'd break them.

Right... I seem to have fixed it... Well, it goes now! Easy job: Just use a small flat blade screwdriver to pry out the switch surround: Remove the connector loom and a clip top and bottom will pop the switch out the front. This is the switch... Note recessed bulbs (well holders really) A 1/8 turn will unlock the holders- I needed some small pliers to extract them. I went to the Auto sparkie shop and they didn't have the correct size... The closest was fig 44 on: but still too big! www.narva.co.nz/Globes_6.htmlSo instead he sold me some loose bulbs 8-B100 - '14V Bulb Mini Capless' These fitted the holder fine, but were slightly shorter than the existing bulbs. The left hand bulb has been replaced, and the right hand one has not. Also the right hand one has a green cover over it to change the colour of the light! I noticed both the switches had a green bulb as the spare! Odd! Still, all working now and not much drama!

It would appear my brain has not been functioning well!!!!
I have just had this flash of realisation, after driving home with my lights on, that the second bulb, that I thought was spare, is actually the night indicator bulb..... Hence the green shroud!!!
So, it appears the top bulb is for the night illumination, and the lower bulb is for the activation light!
After all that brain activity, I'll have to go and have a wee rest!

actication light? lol i didnt know it had one, all mine were blowen when i got it except the night nav for the boot release, also the night nav lights in the factory stereo unit and cd player unit were blown, jaycar sorted the stereo unit bulbs out, and dash switches from a bighhorn at pick a part sorted out some of the dash ones, its not easy in the dark trying to find the button for your spotlights when theres a car comming towards you. i did find a funny bulb holder by my fuse box wired into my spot light switch when trying to install spotlights, will when i say wired i mean someone had used sticky tape so maybe that shorted out cause it looked dodgey as and took all the button lights with it.
the buttons are easy to come apart and there a 2 types the ones that push in and stay clicked in and ones that are just buttons like the boot release, just dont loose the little spring and ball bearing thats in them, thats the fun part when putting back togeather.
also repco may have the silicon sleaves that fit over the bulbs and make them green for night nav or orange for like rear window heater bars light.
