I am about to embark on putting an electric fan set up in my 1989 bighorn, What I need to know is does anyone have info on what temperature they should run at, I need to find the correct range of temps for the thermo switch I am going to get put in the radiator.
Cheers.

thermostat is 88 With 15 pound cap it boils at 115ish I would suggest 95 as a good starting point. High enough that it wont be running all the time but still a good safty margin

I've used a 90 degree switch on mine.Fan cuts in about 1/2 way on the gauge and cuts out at about a 1/4.Problems I've had are when the alternator is only charging enough to turn the dash lights off the battery lasts long enough to get deep in the bush but not back out again.I found out that more power is needed to open the fuel solenoid than to keep it open. Also found that when a lot of winching is required the winch gets very tired when the fan cuts in.I'm going to a dual battery setup, with the second battery dedicated to the winch but able to be switched to the motor if required, charged by a second alternator.
