I have a 3.0 litre, turbo diesel, 1999 Isuzu MU. Quite recently the ABS warning light has been showing as I drive. It goes out during the pre-starting cycle but comes on once I an moving. I do not have an owners manual therefore I am unaware of the significance of this event. Is it, as I wish to think, just a glitch in the electrical system or something more serious? Many thanks if someone could erase my worries.

Only things you can check your self are fluid leval, vacume for the boost, and pad wear. Beyond this its a trip with a couple of credit cards to the brake specialist. It might be somthing cheap like a wheel sensor but might not be as well.Without full diagnostic tools you cant tell. If the light comes on then you cant rely on the abs to work so treat this as urgent

I have a turbo timer and when the ABS light comes on, I turn the ignition off and then on. When I turn off the turbo timer countdown after turning ignition back on, the ABS light goes off.
Generally, the ABS light turns on with big bumps.

the brake light will come on with rapid pumps on the brake pedal due to the inadequate vaccum pump (does anyone know a cheap fix for this) It goes out almost straight away even if the brake pedal is held down. This is normal but a pain in most diesels not just Isuzus. Is this what essentuki meant or is it much more serious?

My MU has an orange ABS and the normal red brake dash lights. The red one has never come on, just the ABS light illuminates sometimes. My MU is a 12/95 build (updated model) so not sure if the old shape has the ABS option.

My 99 fronty had the ABS light come on about 60km into the Simpson desert. other then the ABS not working (read later that once the ABS finds a fault it shuts down until the fault is cleared). i drove the rest of the way across to poeppel corner and back to Brisbane (via Longreach), and had no other issues... (even though the light stayed on). I took the car to K-Mart Tyre and Auto they plug it into there computer and found the fult...
"an open circuit on the rear speed sensor"
he pulled the sensor out and gave it a clean tried to follow the wires until he lost them in a loom... he rang me and said i will have to take it to an Auto Elect to get it fixed... (didn't charge me for finding the fult...and he even fixed my stop lights FOC, got to love that.) now i just have to find the time to get it into an Auto elect to get it fixed...
not helping the original question but i will keep u all informed when i get a fix.
