HI
Thanks for all the previous advice. However, just wandering if anyone has any ideas about another fault that's cropped up with my vechile (a 1994 3.1 td Bighorn).
The fault is with the auto transmission & seems to be intermittent.
When i apply the parking brake the letter P does not always illuminate on the dashboard display. However, when i come back to the vechile & turn the display back on , the letter will illuminate.
In addition when i select reverse, although the vechile always reverses ok. The letter R does not always come on & the audible siginal does not always sound, also when this happens the reversing lights do not come on.
I will be grateful for any ideas.
Thanks
Evertonian

This is a bit of a guess but in the selector box (center console) there is a couple of microswicthes These might be out of adjustment or the relays they drive are faulty.

hehe, std import behaviour from my experience! In my household there's 2 imports and both are a little slow with the reverse beeps & lights. The Toyota actually gets out the driveway sometimes before it's reverse lights come on. Seems to be worse on cold mornings, so microswitch could well be sticking. That P isn't the "PARK" position of the gear selector by any chance is it? I thought the handbrake was a red "!". If I pull mine apart, I'll let you know what I find Cheers! Graham.
