Hi guys,
I'm already sick and tired of the heat here! Couldn't handle Aussie's heat let alone ours.
Am wanting to install an Air con unit into the old motor. Heard that some of the 1991 Bighorns' came out with them, not sure if the system could be ripped out and slapped into a Trooper?
What's the best way of going about this? Btw, the air control panel is already geared up for AC, in other words it has the letters AC printed on the panel and the selector moves into the AC slot.

Easy way The weather man is still giving night temps or 4 or 5 so just drive at night LOL My 89 bighorn has aircon but its a diesel from memory yours is petrol so the brakets etc probably wont fit. Fitting aircon isnt as easy as fitting a pump on the side of the engine Theres a radiator in front of the main radiator and anouther inside the heater plus pipes etc plus gas etc. Before you do anything talk to an aircon shop as they will have to gas the system and probably modify it to take a more ozone freindly gas. Total cost is likly to be more than a trade in to a later model that already has it fitted. If you do go ahead make sure you dont vent the gas from the donnor vehicle into the air That stuff eats ozone at the rate of 10kg ozone per grame of freon. I got enough sunburn over labour weekend

Cheers for that Sounds like the word is to leave as is and buy a Bighorn already with AC in the future. A few people I've spoken to reckon it'll cost the moon and best to open all the windows

add to that the fact that all the pipework has to be flushed with nitrogen to get out all traces of moisture. Costing the moon is optomistic

Spoke to CoolCar air conditioning today, will cost me dam near the purchase price of the vehicle to get the rubbers, seals, and gas etc all done! Guess the old fashioned window will just have to do for now, cheers.
