Can someone tell me how to disable the bloody annoying reverse gear beeper? I KNOW when I am in reverse gear and do not need to have some imbecilic beeping noise distracting me while I manoeuvre backwards.
David.

Ive just fitted one of these to my bighorn It gives kids a fairer chance of not being reversed over but still some blond pedesterians ignor it. Its so tempting to just reverse anyway. Its not a standard fitting but will most likely be one of 2 methods. The one I used is a modified bulb just replace it. The other is a separate beeper about half the size of a beer can Just find and remove.

I agree that the beeper is a pain in the ... especially since only people inside the car can hear it - kind of pointless really.
But I've found it to be handy recently - my reverse lights (& the beeper) don't come on straight away in reverse when the car is cold, so now I know if the reverse lights are on or not.
I'll have to get into the auto selector with some WD40 to free up the switch, or maybe it needs realligning.
Ciao! Graham.

Is this internal reversing beeper the same one that "beeps" when you have left your lights on?
If not, when found, can this reversing one be extended by wires to the rear externally so it can be heard outside but not inside?

beeber is found under console by 4wd shifter (little white box) - I quietened mine with a bit of gaff tape over the beeber unit inside the box - box has some other associated circuitry so didn't just disconnect it

The beeper is in a little white box affixed under the plastic shroud that surrounds the transmission selector. If you open it up, you can use a soldering iron to remove the piezo buzzer without affecting anything else on the vehicle. Your headlight and ignition buzzers are separate.
