Hey all, my insurance company has required that i have a two point immobilizer fitted to my mu before they will cover me for theft. I've hooked one up to the starter but haven't a clue where I'm going to put the other, they usually recommend that you hook it up to the electronic fuel pump but being a 94 model 3.1TD mu i don't have one, only a mechanical one. HELP! ?

There will be a fuel cut out solinoid on the fuel pump. Theres not many wires and with the engine idleing just pul the wires off one at a time The one that stops the engine will be the right one. You could also find the fuse marked fuel pump and work from there

The fuel cut off solenoid is on the rear of the fuel pump and has a single wire coming out of it. covered with a green plastic cover thingy. It screws downwards into the section of the fuel pump where the 4 outlet pipes come out. The solenoid requires 9 volts or more to open (Truck WILL stop when it drops below 9 volts if your alternator isn't charging!) Mine also failed once on the motorway - instant dead engine. Should be simple to hook up imobiliser to this wire somehow. Most alarm installation guys should know all the tricks, just check they know what they are doing on a diesle vehicle before you get them to do the job.

Hi , and once it's hooked up and working , don't park under or near pylons or things like that or like me you won't be able to use your remote to disarm the immobiliser (a lot of pushing involved if your by yourself )
Cheers Greg

Thanks Guys ;D One again the knowledge on this forum has proved invaluable. i have also found another way which involves splitting the wire that leads from the "On" function of the ignition. Usually you are not able to do this as your trigger point for a manual over ride is triggered from this point, but if you attach the trigger point to the ignition barrel end and make the cut for your immobilizer point somewhere after that then you will still be getting power to your trigger input and the car won't stay on if they try and hot-wire directly from the starter motor. ;D Thanks again for all your help guys, i think i will hook up all 3 points mentions to my immobilizer as i have facility to do so.
