Hi
I've currently got non-sealed headlights which have a habit off ingesting moisture. The internals are rusty and I keep blowing fuses. My mate has got sealed beams in his MU, so wondering which one is better. Obviously with sealed I wont have the miosture issue but then I have to buy a whole light if I blow a globe. Can you get sealed beams with upgraded globes (currently have 100/90). Also are they Isuzu specific or are they generic size.
Cheers

I think they are a generic size but dont think you can get high wattage or high output versions only the std 55/40 halogen

this will drag this tread up from the depths, but the headlamps are a standard size, so replacements are readily available.. they are 200 x 142 mm , 60/55W H4 globes.. please note, that for *AUSTRALIAN* use/compliance/ADR/etc.. you can ONLY use the 60/55W globes.. for NZ, there may be (and probably is) a different regulation .. that said, no one is really gonna check if you have 60/55W globes, or 130/90W globes .. lol Narva : www.narva.com.au/ForwardLighting_23.html IPF : www.arb.com.au/ipf-headlight-inserts.php there are others from makers like Hella and that ... the MU's wiring loom is meant to run the 60/55w globes, so if you do use uprated globes, it's a good idea to get the loom upgraded, and check that the reflector can handle the higher wattage globes.. (for non-sealed lamps) Also, I am looking at getting some new headlights, mainly because I currently have 2 righthand side lights.. the guy before me must of damaged/broken/etc the left hand one , but replaced it with a right side one .. so the left one is cranked all the way it can go in a effort to throw the light to the centre .. so I'm looking for recommendations on what others on the board use, or have replaced/upgraded to ..

No need to go higher wattage The hella or Philips +50 bulbs give a good white light from the standard wattage. This is supposedly 50% more than a std halogen but Ive never measured to check. Its also at the expense of bulb life but mine are 4 years old and no problem. There are also some blue tinged bulbs around that are meant to be very bright but I tryed them and replaced them in only 2 months. Some people might like them but I found that although they did illuminate things on the road very well in wet weather you couldnt see the road surface which was a little off putting

They look to be a standard 2BX (i think thats what it is) light so you can get them from the likes of BE Car Parts etc for about $50 each for the non sealed ones
