This afternoon my check engine light came on but all fluid levels are fine - does anyone know what this means and what should be done?

What model are we talking about. I would avoid driving it till the problem is identified

it is a 1999 diesel 2.8 with turbo

Must be a Rodeo to have that engine in that year. Very little electronics so probably oil presure, temp or charge although these should have there own gauge/light. Might also be something on polution control but not sure. Is the light still on when you start it?
