Surprised you dont have power steer. It should fit but have a look at your bottom A arms if they are small and straight it is the same as the 87 and earlier bighorn If large A shaped then you should be in luck and bighorn 88 onwards or Mu willfit. You also need the pump and brackets and pipes

Well I finally got a complete power steer set up. Went to install but cant break the ball joint on the relay arm. My puller wont fit, can't get in there with a wedge ball joint splitter or a pry bar and big hammer. Any suggestions welcome

hi dude, try just hitting around the ball joint with solid hits it should just drop down after 5 or 6 good hits, the hammer just shocks it into submition ha ha, i stood around scratching my head for ages b4 i rang a mate and told me how to do it, the hardest part was actualy getting the box out after every thing was undone. hope this helps . cheers.

It needs big hits! Mate uses a 2 pound head on a meter long handle. Gets them first time every time. I average 5 hits

Its in!!! You guys must be using a hoist or pit -me I,m laying on the floor and of course the weather turned and by the time I finished it was a wet floor. After 2 hours of thumping I ended up cutting the relay arm close to the joint with an angle grinder and shaved the remainder down until it was thin enough to split with a cold chisel. Getting the old box out wasnt' an issue as I had pulled the radiator out to install the plumbing The write ups dont tell you to fit the pinch clamp before you torque up the mounting bolts though and I had to undo it all. I made the pump bracket the other day as the one that came with it had been hacked about and the idler puller was stuffed. The belt now goes from the main pulley up and right over the waterpump right and up over the powersteer pump down to the alternator (on the right of the block on petrol motor) and so on. Did it up too tight and did the pump whine. good now It all went together pretty well apart from that same ball joint not wanting to grip to do up. A peice of rod and a club hammer from above sorted that! ;D Not some thing I want to do again in a hurry. Thanks for the advise though

Awesome offroad but real easy to oversteer or over correct on the open road It took more to get used to than I thought it would Anyone want a manual steering box?

generaly the power steer models had a smaller steering wheel and less turns lock to lock. You might want to fit a wheel from a later bighorn which will reduce the tendency to overcorrect but not nessecsary and wreckers want lots of money for bighorn wheels

Am getting used to sensitivity but I have actually found the lock better I can now do a u turn in town ;D Dont let the hose from the bottle to the pump sit on the bodywork it creates an annoying noise that has you hunting through the whole vehicle for the loose panel/ door/ tailgate/ exhaust well you get the idea
