grrrr.. all i can say is that this is annoying!!
Well after sitting in the workshop for 4 days last week (thanks to various minor WOF issues like the back door lock), the MU was back on the road - for a mere 2 days!!
SOMEHOW the nut on the end of the power-steering pulley busted off and after 20mins of driving (without power-steering), the pulley has been stripped of about 15mm from the inside thanks to the bolt that's meant to hold it!! I take it no-one else has had this because I don't remember anything being put up here. I'll let you all know what sort of price a new pulley is after it's return to the workshop tomorrow.
I'll try and take a photo to show y'all but hopefully it gets fixed before i get the chance!!

Ive had the same thing. On mine the nut came loose and the spline inside the pulley and on the shaft stripped. Also the flange on the nut was no longer square. Pump will need rebuilding if its houseing isnt damaged but the killer will be getting a new pulley. New = $280 Second hand forget as wreckers wont separate from a pump. I was lucky as a wrecker had a burnt out Mu where the pump had melted Still $60 just for the pulley Best choise would be just get a second hand pump from a wreckers but if you go the rebuild way I have a spare pulley here but its in Wellington. Let me know if you want it

Thanks guys,
I might go for the whole new pump. Looking at it closely, the spline has been stripped as well and going from what you guys are saying - it will be cheaper to do a whole new pump. If I can't get a pulley with a pump - i'll give both of you a call.
Thanks guys

Cheers Harry, will get in touch with you and pick it up at some stage. Both sides are now pretty broken but still getting WOF's so not too worried yet.
