Off road soft is good but this is no good carrying loads. Springs carry the weight but shocks control it. What do you mean by soft. If it sags every time you put something in the boot you need new springs if it gets all unsettled on a bumpy road then the shocks could be the answer. The ideal shock would depend on usage. If this is primarily a road car or does easy 4wd stuff then any new shock will do. Kybs are easy to get as are munroe and rancho5000 or 50 other brands. If you are building a serious truck you need to look further to things like toughdog etc

To liven an old thread... Mine is the 99 Wizard I have the opposite problem. Too hard
When I bought the vehicle, 12 months ago it was soft-as so I had all 4 shocks replaced. Front is Munro Adventures and is ok. Rear is Munro Adventures and is hard.
What would be my ideal would be electric adjustable shocks. Then I could adjust to suit while driving!!
Has anyone any thoughts. Reading the Australian forum they suggested.. I think, adjustable Rancho5000's Sorry cant remember exactly. But when I went and discussed with local shock shop they said even on their lowest setting they would be harder than the Adventures.

Everyone is buying Rancho shocks esspecialy the 5000 series as they are cheap and fairly reliable. The 5000 isnt adjustable but the 9000 are. You could try KYB or Tokico shocks but after 12 months they wont give your money back on the old ones so it might be better to put up with a firm ride unless its that firm that its unbearable

We have a 96 Wizard which has Rancho 9000s and up graded coils. They were on the vehicle when we brought it, I was told that the springs were a two inch lift in the rear. I adjust the rear shocks when we tow the camper trailer (800 KGs) to about level 7 and its great. Do not do any serious 4WD in it, but the MU which has three inch lift and OME (Old Man Emu)shocks. and the ride unladen is not good. Towing the camper with the Wizard is a lot smother but it has an auto box which I hate to death.
Cheers Bruce

1990 4jb1 rodeo had munroe's in it i bought OME's and had them installed but found in wet weather road driving the back end was skipping around with no load(being a weekend toy) it's working days were over the day i bought it so had the rear's changed to a softer shock. know it is firm but feels awsome to drive
