Has any one changed the front wheel bearings, if so is it a difficult job. Also what is the part number for the bearings for the 3.1?
Thanks for the help.

www.clubisuzu.com --> Workshop --> Repairs --> Wheel Bearings. Whats wrong with the ones you have got? They are adjustable Part numbers for the 3.1 I can't confirm as I have a 2.8. Do replace the oil seal at the same time. Any problems just ask..... I done a few of these in my time.

They are the same right through th whole isuzu 4wd range. The oil seal should be in the kit unless you are rich enough to buy genuine. If water killed your bearings it could be worth checking the seal at the back of the hub assembly as well. This is genuine only

I need to replace one of the front inner wheel bearings on my mud truck.[Stuffed seal + water = rusty bearing].Rang Ripco. No individual bearings but kit for $190 odd.Rang Waikato bearings.Inner bearing $40 +gst and seal for $7 +gst. And she knew it was for an Isuzu before I told her.Must be a common problem. So Ripco can go and get......! Incidently the inner bearing no is 32009xa.The seal is 59 x 75 x 10 mm. Harry.

Had similar experience in Chch. $100s of dollars for kit from Isuzu dealer, and $76 for full kit (inner and outer bearing and seal) from Saeco. Club price. Important points with waterproofing are to use VERY good waterproof grease e.g. Proma's MBL (rover club swears by it) in your bearings, and use a proper gasket sealant to completely seal between the joining faces of your manual hubs e.g. the Loctite product for this purpose, or Dynotex? if you don't want to spend much. Alot of guys don't use top grease, and don't seal hubs properly and that is where alot of moisture gets in.

Yeah, prices vary greatly, I can remember my first set was around $180.... I got a two sets last week for $35/set from a mechanic friend with a trade account (minus seal)..... Does that make you all weep? ;D By the way does anyone have a seal part number? My last sample is attached to my truck.... thought I had a spare.

You may find 58 75 8 a bit tight on the seal face.Actual dia is 59 mm.Mine all measures out at 59 75 10. Harry.

Keep an eye on them and put plenty of grease on the seal lips. They'll cook if they're overly tight. Harry.

I'm not sure how I can keep an eye on them Harry, it's all buried deep. :-) Thanks for the sizes anyway. I did the bearing last night and measured the mating surface for the seal at 59.0mm. I assume a 59mm seal won't measure 59mm but rather is designed to compress slightly and seal at 59mm diameter?

Yes, thats correct.Maybe an ear on them would be easier.Once the water or runny mud gets in they go downhill real quick. Harry.

No problem mate, I'm sure it will be better than the stuffed one I took out, and I want it a little tighter.
