hi all
i have noticed a hard steering until 2000 RPM with a rare sound (like drilling on wood). Also found the hoses that go in/out to the oil reservoir are wet with ATF. The reservoir is wet too. The other day jacked up the front wheels for check turnings and the steering works good as ever without that strange sound. Im running 31 PSI in my 215/80 R16 tyres and the belt tension is OK. Any ideas ??

The pumps gone. When the seals fail they suck air in which foams the fluid causing the resiviour to overflow. It uses the same seal kit as the Subaru so should be easy to fix. Dont drive too much like this as the shaft can break sending the pulley through the radiator. You can take the belts off but then steering is very heavy.
