Does anyone know parts numbers, price and availabilty of the little needle roller bearings on cv shafts. Had mine changed years ago and I think they cost about $26 a pair, but enquiring today at Isuzu dealer thay say they have no numbers and sell only a kit (incl bearing and a lock?) which is $125 each side approx. Rang bearing shop but no further progress.
Appreciate any help
Mike

Part numbers from Williams and Adams in Wellington bearing G*8944077080 seal G*8971236910 I couldnt find the recent receipt but when I got the other side in May 2004 it was $62 all up The price wasnt much different last December I suspect the kit they offered you was a wheel bearing kit which is a good price from Holden but not against other bearing supliers.

Thanks for those Isuzu part numbers Alan - phoned suppliers and they know the little bearing as a "drawn cup needle roller", with manufacturer's number HK3016. Phoned Saeco, SMP and SKF and best trade price for bearing only is $17.02 + GST from SKF. So will get two for $38 incl and do both sides this weekend. Other prices from Saeco and SMP $51 and $63 incl for same 2 bearings. Pays to make a call or two.
Thanks for the help - Mike.

Not wanting to rub it in, but i get those little bearings for about $10 each, and a wheel bearing kit for $55, just a pain that the seal that goes with the bearing is a genuine part only!!!

Fitted roller bearings yesterday and discovered in process a bit of slop in left idler (bell crank), which I must fix for WOF. Priced new unit at $138 incl trade from Repco, and will check another outfit, but I'm wondering if it is again better to go for a good tight second hand isuzu part rather than a repco part with its inferior metal? Would save a fair bit too. Any thoughts?

When mine gave up only genuine ones were available and the price was nearly 4 times that. Try BNT as well for an alternative price or Stocks in Wellington. The new ones have a grease nipple so should do better but I have heard of some failures in the after market ones although the warrentee replacement ones have been ok. So much for quality control. Second hand ones would also be same milage etc so unless you can get a late model one I would use new. Comercial wreckers set there prices against genuine parts so I doubt a second hand one would be cheaper although they would have the crank arm on so would be less work

Have bitten the bullet and ordered a new unit minus the arm for $100 + Gst. I only hope the metal quality is ok. Outfit was Suspension Autoparts Specialists (SAS) in Chch, but elsewhere too I believe. Seems ok price.
