I need some help.... My front brake pads have worn out on one side , just happened two days ago, and now the piston in thecallipars have come that far out when the mechanic tried to put new pads in he was unable to push the pistons back in, they have seized!! so Im up for new callipars... so my question is, do the 2.8MU's have the same callipars as the 3.1 MU's?? mine is the 94 3.1. my front right callipar has "AD60 and 26-15" writen on them.

you can grab calipers from a holden rodeo, mu, wizard, jazz, frontera all those models share the same front brake setup. get the rotors aswell as you may find now your rotors are worn on one side.
the only difference drive train wise in any of these vehicals is the lenght of tail shaft from gearbox to rear axle and some came with rear disc brakes and some had rear drum brakes.
otherwise interchangable.

OK Update time. While i was ringing around this mornig I found a mech who said he could Re-condition the brake callipars, SO i went here is my 4by! Picked it up at 5pm in the arvo and told me that one of my brake pads have been put on the wrong way (metal to metal)!!! I had got a wheel alighnment done last friday, along with the wheel bearsing being repacked, and they mention my brakes were stuffed and callipar pistons all seized up. As soon as i got the car back I started noticing braking nioses, (thinkin i ran out of pad) But the DODGE Idiots put the pad on the WRONG way I kept the brake pad so i can show them, but im not too sure how they should fix it, Should they put a new rotor on for me or new something??? what would b consider fair in this instance?? My brake are now pulsating when i brake! NOT HAPPY!

They screwed up, so they should fix it. How did they manage to put them on the wrong way?

You will have deep scores on the rotor that wernt there before. They wernt even if they were. Rotors are not that expensive so they should replace it Only question left is do you trust them to do it right. It is possible to put the pads in the wrong way but it takes a determined idiot to do it. You dont have to remove the pads to do the wheel bearings as the pads remain in the calliper assembly if you take it off as one piece

It is such and Idiot mistake, I so didn't need to happen!! Anyways I went back and showed them the pad and they went into there little office for 10 min, trying to figure out something. Came out and offered to machine the rotor for me... thought about it and then suggested they instal a new disc for me, so now they are going to do that! They were alright about the situation. he did say he was going to shoot (figurativly) the person who worked on my MU!! I tok some pics for your enjoyment. I figure someone better enjoy the situation!!! This is the WRONG side on the brake And this is the right side, Ie the side with the brakes on it!! ;D

Sounds like a good result. It doesnt take long for metal to metal to do a lot of damage.

I have ben told to gt both the rotors replaced, because one will be thinker than the other. Is there any merit to this? will diffent thinknesses cause any shudders or issues later down the track?? should i ge them to replace both of them??
does any body know the side of the rotor?
What your thoughts on this???

All the good books say to do this but this could be due to the fact that under normal wear if one has worn out the other isnt far behind. Also the thinner one will heat up faster than the new one under heavy braking. You will probably have to pay for the rotor on the undamaged side. Unless the other one is getting towards the wear limit I wouldnt change it but its your choise. At least measure it.

I too would start by measuring it. If it is determined that the other rotor needs to be replaced, as a result of their incompetence, it hardley seems fair that you should have to foot the bill. If they did not stuff it up the first time, it is unlikely you would be looking at rotors now. Sounds like the are trying to do the right thing. Know what you want but dont go in guns blazing just yet, get all your facts first.
