Hi all, just wandering how many of you have driven one of the above new trucks? I got the chance the other day to drive a Hyundi Terracan CRDi manual 120kw and 345nm 2050kg, was surprised that my MU 3.1 (3 inch exhaust and 13psi on the turbo) was as power full, ok am around 200kg lighter. So I was thinking I would have to buy a new truck (down the track some time) to tow a caravan around 1300kg. And I am still to put an intercooler on and play with the pump. The Terracan has only done 14k also. So if anyone driven one of these and has an option like to hear it please. Cheers Bruce.

My brother has a Hyundai santa fe, with a 2.2 turbo diesel in it that produces about 110kw and near 300nm torque. Loves it. Very economical, goes v well, and the traction aid system is very trick in sand etc - automatically transferring traction to whichever wheel needs it. Great on road 4wd, ideal for skiing, fishing, and the odd easier track . Not an offroader - wouldn't fare too well in 30" of water - esp with its low ride and trick electronics - but a fine little vehicle. Says its alot better and quicker than the mitsi challenger 2.8 he had. Hyundai have come a long way in last 3-4 years from their seriously underengineered earlier products - some of which were taken up new as fleet vehicles, but were blowing gearboxes etc within 10,000ks.

out of Terracan v santafee the Terracan is the one to get. The santa fee didnt originaly have low range. This may of changed as the santa fee didnt use to come out with the diesel even though the terracan had the diesel. The NZ 4wd mag had one for a year to do up to semi shiney stuff and it handled everything that was thrown at it except the last challenge. Hyundai gave the instruction at the end of the lease to try and destroy the vehicle. The clip is on utube somewhere as is a similar stunt done by top gear with an old hilux. Terracans dont fare too well being dropped by cranes
