You dont have to dismantal the bearing Once you remove the free wheel you can remove the circlip then break the ball joints and the whole lot is sitting in your lap. Its lighter if you take the hub off the stub axle but Ive done cv boots this way several times. Re the play if this is endfloat then it is a little much if it is side play then its a huge amount. Endloat can be solved by more shims under the circlip

Hi quack Just to add to your check list, if yours is auto & you haven't done anything with the breather on the top of the box It might pay to quickly undo the transfer case bung & check the colour of your fluid as well as your diff oil because when i was stuck in the river bed water had entered through the breathers & shagged my oil out since then i've learnt to extended all lines out of harms way. haha thanks muvit, havnt checked them but i have extended all my breathers so they should be ok....

Not mine, but some one who I thought would have posted it by now? I have very few pics of mine in the water, seems I am always the one taking the photos but on this same trip ended up deep enough that I don't have carpets in my truck any more ;D
