Was just wondering about the power difference between the 2.8 and the 3.1. Obviously the 3.1 should go harder, but is the difference in power worth the extra fuel useage or time taken shopping round to find one? I've remember seeing old posts with dyno figures but that means nothing to me. Also, what sort of price should around a 94 Mu go for? and do they loose much value? Cheers fellas.

I went from a 2.8 to a 3.1 because of the power difference. Going up hill on a freeway is where my 2.8 struggled and the 3.1 still pulls 110ks. But saying that with a decent intercooler / exhaust on the 2.8 the difference is marginal.
Prices for a good nick 3.1 vary from 12-15K in NSW. The further out you look the cheaper they are, but then you've got to get them back from Blackstump so its swings and roundabouts. I would say the greatest number for sale seems to be in QLD. J

I think the 2.8 is 84kw and the 3.1 92kw which is nearly 10% but also the 3.1 has a much wider power band and will pull hard almost from idle whereas the 2.8 is a typical Japanese motor that likes to rev (by diesel standards) Also as the 3.1 is indirect injection it is quieter and a fraction greedier but not much. Both are good motors
