Hi Francesco I have been using a GPS for the last 9 years and currently use a Garmin 12. I use it mainly for boating but have used it in the truck as well. I also run a PC Mapping programme 'Oziexplorer" which is developed in Australian primarily for 4WDers but works equally well on the water. You can down load a trial version and if it works ok on Your PC you can purchase the full version for US$85 www.oziexplorer.comIf you you are looking at buying a GPS you need to make sure it can do NZ Map Griding as TOPO maps are in this format. For Marine you need it to do hddd.mm.mmm. Some of the Magellens fail in these areas. My Pick of GPS is a Garmin 72 (NZ$450) Also get the Power cable and data cable- about NZ$30 each. Let me know if you require more info or help. Alan

Most of the Garmin models can be picked up fairly cheap off the Trade Me site and a lot come with warranties.
