There was a model change in 97 with major changes. Can you give us the first 5 digits in the chassis number. It will be either UCS69 or UCS73

Yes, I can sympathise with you.... My 1996 Mu was actually manufactured 11/95 according to the plate!!!
Your model type should be UCS69.

Hi Paral - your 96/97 mu is almost certainly a 4JG2 3059cc motor (UCS69). The mus from Dec 95 to June 98 all had this motor ex japan, and changed to the 3.0 4JX1 after June 98. Could be occasional variations on this with vehicles from other overseas markets e.g. there are a few 2.6 petrol mus. The 4JG2 motor (non-intercooled) has 88kw (120ps) or about 119hp, and about 270nm of torque. The intercooled model has about 5hp more. Don't worry if your 97 model was manufactured in late 96. This is common with any make as companies make them a bit early for next year's market/model. They sometimes sit around a bit in big storage yards between manufacture date, and first registration date. Pretty normal. If more than 3-4 months this might be a bit unusual. For more info there are several sites which give same specs for isuzus ex japan. One is www.english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/ You can check most specs there. Mike
