Looking around for snorkel for 1990 Bighorn 4JBIT. From what I'd heard people had trouble finding snorkels that fit, (or maybe that was MU people can't find one for), anyway, on safari site (http://www.safari4x4.com.au/docs/snorkel/ss100.htm) is this one...check out the top of it...  Why do it differently? Why not the normal airsock on top? Advantages of this design are? Wouldnt you lose out from no "ram" effect? Anyone found any good snorkels/brands for this vehicle? Mine is an airflow one for a series 2 disco The place I bought it from is no more but Roy And Debbie at Seatcover Wharehouse in CHCH can supply.They have an add on the main page. I dont know who supplies them in Wellington. Fitting them is a little tricky as the fuse box and power steer resivoir have to move and the hole in the air cleaner has to be moved. I can send you photos tonight if you want. Mine was fitted by Bowler Motors in Porirua who is far from the cheapest place around but Dave did a nice job remaking all the mounting hardware to match the car.
The safari site also now lists the Disco snorkle as fitting but the same fitting issues will exist

They take two days to arrive. Fitting can also be arranged via another Club Member if you dont want to do it yourself.

Alrighty...I know it's close to xmas...plenty of things gonna be needing money...but I deserve it right??? Order me one please!!! Of course assuming it is top quality, top fitting and all that...which I think it will be. 1990 Bighorn Irmscher S 2.8Tdi. And the offer of Club Member fitting it...that you Richard? Would be awesome! I will help of course, always keen to learn new stuff and get in there, just not the kinda thing I wanna do on my own with hardly any tools or experience! I might not be able to come to xmas meeting...I might get my new snorkel dirty...  Whats easiest <safest> way to get credit card details to you Andrew? Cheers all! |
