Im just new here. I have a import 3.1D bighorn 1993 lotus edition from japan. I've been in other isuzu trooper forum but seems nobody experienced the same as mine. The "Check Trans" start blinking everytime I reached 1.8 KM distance still blinking until I shut off. Its very consistent it only blink whenever I reached that distance and still blinking until I shut off. The engine is good and I didnt notice any problem in my transmission everything is fine. I tried also disconnected the + and - and touched the two cables to clear any DTC code in my TCM as suggested by other forum but still have the problem. I don't have any access to know how to determine the error code because Its hard to find shops here in the philippines that have ODB I scan tools. I hope in this club can help me isolate the problem.
If there someone have a 1992-1994 3.1 D trooper service manual and electrical manual here who can share to me. Maybe I could DIY of my problem. I got a service and electrical Isuzu trooper 1995 but it covers gasoline engine and the transmission is not the model AW30-40.
Thanks, Matt

That trans has been used by just about every car maker in the world in one form or anouther and there is a wealth of info on the net. Try this one from a Volvo site it might help. caunter.ca/volvo960/ce14807.pdfFirst things I would check would be fluid level and condition. It could be overheating as well although I wouldnt of thought so that quick. Try changing the fluid and filter and see if that fixes it. Otherwise it could be one of the many sensors used by the trans and or engine. I think mention was made here a while ago about the throttle position sensor not indicating idle correctly giving a similar result A quick adjustment fixed. Is this a steady flash or does it have a pattern?

Yes it is steady flash. It start blinking only when I reached a distance 1.8 KM it is consistent. I also flush and replace the transmission oil and do the same to move the switch of throttle position switch but still the same. that's what i don't like about automatics from japan (that's my point of view here in the phil ;D) we don't have lots of mechanics that knows how to repair auto. hope you get that fixed

I can't offer any help, except to say that my 3.1TD Auto MU won't "you know what" into over drive until I've travelled aproximately 900metres (I used a GPS to measure the road at exactly 1km long, and overdrive kicks in just before the end of the road)
So it seems that in 900m my Auto reaches 'operating temperature' or something. Maybe in double the distance yours is overheating as suggested already.
Hopefully you can get a diagnosis before you have to start experimenting though.
Good luck! Graham.

i spoke with my friend already, and this is what he has to say: the isuzu transmission has a fail safe device. so if the check transmission lights up, and there is a real problem, you would not be able to put the shifter into gear. and thus, you would not be able to move the trooper. he is saying that the sensors might be faulty. we also have a friend from pampanga who has a faulty warning light (his 4wd indicator is always on) but the trooper is not in 4wd. if you are still having doubts, isuzu dealers here are willing to check surplus units update us about the progress. hope this helps
