intake butterfly

just wondering what the butterfly actuator thing is on the intake of my mu? (2.8)

when i put a topmount cooler on it, the cooler had one too so i just hooked it back up.

it dosnt seems to do anything that i can see, also what are all the things that the vacumm line goes too? are these egr stuff?

what can i remove?

I think the butterfly is tied to the wastegate somehow to reduce boost if all else has failed.
The vacume line on the alternator feeds everything includeing the brakes. The only ones you can remove are the 2 that go to the 2 valves on the inlet manifold. This will disable the egr but the best way is to remove both valves and seal up the holes in the manifold the vacume lines and the pipe from the exhaust manifold. (its hot)
