Hi all, I really thought silly season had passed, but then I went and attempted a U-turn on a grass medium strip. I didn't slow down enough before finding out that combining wet grass and 1.8 tonnes of Isuzu metal makes a tree magnet. I've got a 'bit' of damage to the front of my MU and am taking it to a local smash repairs tomorrow morning for a quote. Can anyone offer any advice on parts compatability (Rodeo, Jackaroo?), sources of parts and do you think an average Repairer will be scared by the "Import" factor? I'll try and get some pics up soon to show what shouldn't be done to MUs. Thanks in advance for any advice. Graham.

Rodeo body bits and Jackaroo mechy bits, hopefully the front gaurds are okay because they're the bits you can't donor. And go for some 33" muddys the next time you wanna chuck U'ie's on the grass J

Rodeo guards arn't as flared as the MU ones. I think the Frontera is the same guard, albeit with differing indicator type and position.

Graham, frontera is the closest you will get 'off the shelf' in aust. Truckbits in Onehunger in NZ quotes me $100 a guard for MU.
Try Capalaba wrecking in Bris, they were wrecking a few MUs when I lived there. Also there is a guy on Ebay wreaking a whole MU in Brissy and you can have heaps of parts for $2500 or just email him for bits!
Just jump on and throw MU in the search box!
Matt.

Well, the guards should be OK, here's a pic of the front end: - it's not too bad, but at a glance the repairers think it will cost about $3 to 4k. Now I get to see how Australian 4WD insurance go. I'm waiting for approval and have already been told that my 60% NCB (rating 1) is protected, but a 2nd claim in 2+ years will knock it down 2 levels. Because it's on insurance, I don't have to stress about finding replacement panels, but thanks for the suggestions of places to try. $100 for a guard sounds like a good price, and when you add shipping costs, it would still be about 1/3rd what holden would charge for one here! While I was at the picture thing, I came across these that were already uploaded to the web - the factory Clarion stereo that was in my MU: Cheers! Graham.

Yeah, now I see it Im with J, just throw ona Bullbar (Rodeo) and a Rodeo front grill (you need the later 93-97 one) and bonnet. This should see you sweet as and not out of pocket. Prob cheaper for the insurance to fit a bullbar than source a MU bumper, thats the hard one!!
Goodluck

I drove by the smash repairers today and saw it with the front end naked (bar etc removed for quote I guess).
I'll call the Insurance Co. tomorrow and find out if a bull bar is an option, even if I have to pay a few $ extra.
Cheers! Graham.

You'd b looking at around $1200 bucks for a bullbar as oppose to them replacing the front bumper and nudgebar, (and that was expensive! ). So if you had to pay the difference it would not be a lot. Glad to see your front gaurds are intact as the rest is off the shelf Rodeo bits. J

Well, I called the insurance co. about the bull bar and CGU (underwriters of Aus 4WD ins.) were happy to do it with me paying the difference if it costs more. But then I called the repairer and he's already ordered the parts 1 thing of some value though is his source of parts is a place in Southport (Brissie?) called "Isuzu MU Importers". Has anyone dealt with these guys before, I think he said Rod is the name of the guy there. So it's an actual MU bumper, grill and ancilliaries coming to fix my little one up. Maybe ready on Friday though, fingers crossed. Cheers, Graham.

Gee that's a shame, you could have had a bull bar for a few hundred dollars. The only issue would be the speed of delivery on the bar, my one took about 3 weeks to get here so If you needed your car back it would have been a problem. J

It would be different if the parts were sitting on his workshop floor. Isuzu MU Importers is A.K.A RMA Spares in Egerton Dve, Southport. I think Rons a top bloke generally. He certainly TRIES to do the right thing. Has lots of parts and as long as he sends the right ones (don't even go there...), you'll be laughin' ... LOL. Makes you wonder why the penile beater didnt source parts locally though. Hope all goes well

I haven't found that number yet. I did write it on a scrap of paper on my desk at work, but it's been buried for a couple of days and hasn't surfaced for air yet. I called the repairer today hoping my MU would be ready, but unfortunately they don't have a grill yet. Apparently the one sent was broken or something. Maybe that was the type of thing Caffa was hinting at... I've still got my other 4WD to play with at least (see avatar) Cheers, Graham.

Well, the MU came back on Friday and is looking much better. The front bar's alignment isn't as good as before, but apparently nothing can be done about that. More importantly than the MU though is that my real baby arrived on Tuesday 8th of Feb! I now have a son to train in the ways of the MU He's very premature though so won't be home for a few months, but my wife has come home yesterday which is making it all easier on us. Oh, and we're only a few minutes from the hospital which is good too. Biggest problems now is that the MU is a little high for my wife to climb into and the suspension is a bit rough, but her car is quite low to get into being a sports car. I'm tempted to trade the MU in on a station wagon or something I wonder how much Stupes can afford for a '95 3.1 Auto MU... Cheers! Graham
