Since I bought my Mu (6 months/ 2 oil changes ago), I'm using Penrite HPR diesel 20W-60 motor oil. Acordingly to old postings on this forum, most of yous are using thiner grade oils. Can anyone please proof me doing good/bad thing to my engine. My 2.8 engine with 123500 km(??) does not use any oil (just couple of soup spoons for 1000 km), only complain is it runs bit noisely (I newer heard other's Mu runing,so don't know if it is normal noise).
P.S. At my local store I can't get any other grade of Penrite diesel oil. What oil and grade are you suggesting?

I use Caltex Delo Silver SAE 15W40, have done for about 70k. This oil is the recommended one for the Yanmar 4 cylinder marine diesel of 230 HP (they cost about $32,000 each). The cost of 20 litres is around $70 Aus, and tha price has not changed in 12 months, funny how diesel keeps going up. Anyway I think that the 15W40 is the recommened grade for most diesel motors. Just had a look at my book and it looks ok to use 20w60 although the thicker oil might cause slightly less power and ecconomy. Personaly I would use 15w40 of a differant brand unless the engine is getting worn (220000km) but you wont do any real harm
