Hi all, Just came back from beach trip and noticed (for the first time) loud BANGS from the front end, probably suspension, when ever going through bumpy/rough soft sand. I am not sure if the noise is when the car hits the sand or when it’s up at the height of the ride. I am not thrashing the car, just getting enough speed to tackle the softer sand tracks and as the car drives through and hits some of the larger cross tracks or sand bumps and dips, this is when the BANGS occur. Rear of the car is need of suspension and shock upgrade. Could this be a front suspension (Torsion or shock) problem? On the road it seems ok as there is no real large bumps to hit, might try a speed bump and see if the noise is still there,.....? Any help would be greatly appreciated?
Cheers Chris

Check your bump stops on the front upper control arms are still there. If they wear or fall off you'll just be bottoming out, especially if your shocks are tired. J

Checked everything last night (to the best of my abilities) and all seems to be in place bar maybe the shock bushes that are well used,..! but they wouldn't be the problem,.......or would they?
The whole car is in need of a new suspension anyway, it’s done 90,000 and as far as I know never had suspension/shock replacements. Am considering a 2-3" full suspension lift and shocks. Just another question and sorry if it’s a stupid one (I'm not mechanically minded), if I get a full suspension lift and shocks and then decide to get a 2"inch body lift 6 months after, will I have to redo/buy another set of shocks?

Sounds to me like yer shocks are tired and ain't coping with the momentum of driving into a sand incline, so the front suspension is just bottoming out. The top mounts for all the shocks front & rear are attached to the chassis, so as long as the shocks are spec'd for the suspension lift, an additional body lift wouldn't affect the range of shock travel, as far as I'm aware. Hi all, Just a recap on a previous post I had placed, it appears that these loud bangs was actually the Auto Hubs slipping, as I just found out on Morton Island while going up hill on soft sand. Well I should have listened to those who said get rid of auto hubs, oh well lesson learnt, basically the MU had to drive in 2 wheel all over the island which was fine as long as there was NO stopping on the soft stuff. Will have to go back on the posting and see what hubs are good for 94 MU unless someone can tell me the details for them and where to get new?(Yes I know, I am lazy).
