Tonight I started pulling off the cooling hoses and too my surprise I found, what appears to be a second inline thermostat. It has 76.5degC stamped on it. It was located at the back of the engine block on the hose that goes from the heater to the oil cooler (below the turbo). I am struggling to see a reason for it. Has anyone found this before?

This is a bit of guess work but does also answer my never asked question about a "valve" in the lines to the oil cooler on the 2.8 engine. I would imagine that you want the oil to reach a certain temp before cooling it so by shutting off the water to the cooler untill the engine is warm would allow the oil to reach optimin temp quicker
