just wanting to get some sugestions on which type of intercooling system would best suit a 2.8 t.d. mu. either front mount or top mount? also have heard that front mount is better because doesnt get any engine heat like a top mount although will lag because of piping length. and that top mount is good because there is hardly any piping although gets all of the engine heat. just want to know wat use all think? thanks

I'm thinking up a plan for a front mount for my 2.8 MU in the future sometime.
I don't like top mounts because of the heat issue...
It comes down to preference, and whether you want maximum cooling or ease of installation...
Oh and cost ofcourse, a new front mount set-up will cost way more than sticking on a second hand isuzu top mount and bonnet scoop.

i went for the topmount option, i went with the 3.1 intercooler and the 88 bighorn scoop. they look really good on the mu.
the topmount stays nice and cool when driving on the road but offroad when driving at much slower speeds get extramly hot. i plan on adding a big radiator fan like jimmu and that should fix that problem.
i origanly wanted front mount but after looking at plumbing options i soon settled on topmount.
every easy to install (took about 2 hours all up) and all up costed about $130 including cooler, scoop, paint, and even a ring spanner i needed to it.
im quite suprised at how much the engine heat dosnt affect the cooler when idling, although i try to aviod long idle
at the end of the day the front mount is going to give cooler air but at a much bigger cost and longer plumbing.

Front mount is the pure answer for heat but if used off road will clog with mud and will be a plumbing bad dream. Top mount works fine at road speeds and can be improved off road with a fan. You also have to cut a hole in the bonnet and fit a scoop

Pajero ang hyundia ones also work quite well and pajero ones are easy to get hold of but you have to make all your own mounts whereas the trooper/bighorn ones should come with mounts that bolt straight up. try www.4x4isuzu.com They are in NZ but can send to aus for the appropriate fee

Yes there are pros for a front mount cooler... but remember these vehicles of ours are 4WD's... are you going to take it off road an likely to clog up a fron mount with mud? unlike street vehicles...
My $0.02
