After watching Top Gear's "special" on safety, I thought i'd have a browse on the net to see if I could find anything on Isuzu's safety record (specifically the MU's rating). Now, i have only had a quick look and it doesn't look good. I did find something on the trooper and rodeo (1994 versions): www.nhtsa.gov/NCAP/Cars/1994SUVs.htmlThis site here gives a small amount of info on all Isuzu's which doesn't make for good reading either. www.crashtest.com/isuzu/So does anyone have any "experience" in how Isuzu's perform in a crash? I would be surprised to find out that it performs THAT BAD!!!

Remember this is a solid chassis real 4wd trying to compete in a test designed for standard cars. Most 4wd of a similar design age ie the trooper and varients is essentialy an 1984 design with only cosmetic changes. Modern 4wds do ok in these tests which is why they are hopless off road. Also you know that a 4wd is bad like this and drive accordingly so are just as safe as in a car

I saw a smashed 2.8 93 Mu at a wreckers. The chassis beam running fore and aft under the drivers side had collasped sideways toward the passenger side and the engine and steering column folded in on the drivers seat. Mind you it had 2 bumpers on the front end. It's own decrotive multi bar crome job and the other trucks one sort of like a farmers ute type bar or big Mack imbedded in. Must of been some hit.
