Im having problems with my shite standard auto hubs, whenever i engage 4wd then disengaged it i some times get a wizzing/graunching noise from the fromt hubs when i get to about 40/50k's. It takes a couple of trys but i can get it to disengage and not make a noise. Im thinking the hubs could be dry and seezing. My plan is to take them apart and grease them (will replace with manusls as budget allows), do you think this might work? do i just undo the bolts on the out side of the hub that i can see with the wheels on? whats the story with resealing thm? Please help.

Thats right matt, just undo the bolts that are showing on the outside of the hubs. you can leave the wheels on. I would suggest soaking a bit of diesel or similar light oil inside them if they look really dry, and then cleaning out as much of the old grease as possible. Use a standard wheel bearing grease to re grease them as that will tend to keep out any water, but don't over do the grease, just lightly on all the moving parts and splines. as for re sealing the unit I would just clean up both surfaces and then use some RTV silicon gasket maker as this will provide a suitable watertight seal.
