Does anyone know how to disable that annoying bell when the key is in the ignition and the drivers door is open?

Close the door ?
. . .
Sorry couldn't resist! ;D
You could always find the piezo speaker and disconnect it.

I have thought about this before, but decided to put up with it. I understand its also connected to the lights on and keys out, buzzer. With driving lights, fog lights and other 2 other useful bug killers stuck on the front of mine I decided to keep the buzzer for a little protection.

Just below the door latch on the body is a slide switch,a philips head screwdriver is required. Remove the 2 screws remove switch replace screws or move slide back place a small peice of card between the contact this will stop the noise. This was my first mod after about 3 days works like a charm ;D

ROFL ..... Now THAT'S funny .... I actually did similar to Dave but not as pretty. I took the spring out of the latch so if I need the interior or door lights I can manually hold the slide with the door open for as long as required.

Almost forgot to mention .... In effectively isolating this switch, if you have a security system that uses the switch, obviously it will not work. I havent really thought about it til now but my alarm doesnt work from the drivers door and it has never really concerned me. It may be a fair price to pay, in putting up with the annoying noise, if you have an alarm that utilises this switch.

I am now thinking about a toggle inside the vehicle so I can isolate it on weekends away or the like when I want the door open with the keys in the ignition so I can hear a radio or something but it will let my alarm work off that door at other times. Sounds like a better option already...

If I was going to dissable this the first place I would look is the back of the ignition...
there must be a wire or two that go to a switch on the barrel....
cut these wires and/or cross them.
This way all the other functions will work, the car thinks it has no keys in it!!

It is behind the kick panel in the drivers side floor, pull the plastic panel off by the accelerator panel at the bottom of the drivers side well by the door on the floor, you will find a plug containing about 8 wires, by disconecting this plug you will disable the following: rear speakers, fuel gauge, tail lights, and the annoying bell, trial and error should deduce which wire to cut.
