Hi, I am new to the list and would like to know what type of turbo timer is the best for a 1996 MU 3.1? Where should I get it installed or would I be able to install it myself? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers.

I use the Jaycar one too. Had no problems with it at all. Used a different diode so I can choose 90 seconds or 180 seconds through a toggle.

Toggle switch?
I've got a Jaycar TT as well, but never got to use it. My car at the time died before installation. I think I built mine using a trim pot (dial) to give variable timing.
Maruis, if you're in Sydney and interested I can see if it's still in the garage. If so, it's fully built and ready to be installed. It has to have a power supply and I think it intercepts a line in the ignition. Wouldn't be simple to install, but if you can install a car stereo (for example) and know how to use a multi meter to identify wires, then you could DIY.
Cheers! Graham.

Not knocking anyones timers, just a little food for thought!!!
Id take the time and make sure my timer is of a very good, proven standard before installing. Had a friend who mowed airfields for some extra cash. Rocked up very early one morning jumped ou tof him TD Pajero and hopped into the slasher while the Paj idled down for a few minutes.
Hrs and hrs later he returned to his car and wondered why it just cranked and cranked but wouldnt fire.......
Out of fuel and very badly carboned up/choked engine!! Timer just didnt shut it down for some strange, unknown reason!! Hence why I still wait within earshot of my MU until it shuts down, plus stops someone trying to jump in thinking you left the keys in and running. I distantly recall somewhere in the old memory bank his rig was idling for over 8 hrs!!
As I said food for thought!!
Matt.

Hi Maruis, I have an HKS TT in my MU.. Here's a pic of one like mine: just been in it trying to work out what was wrong.. bloody negative wire had come undone from the chasis. ANYWAY... i'll have a look at the wires with my multi-meter when i get a free few minutes and see what i can do for you. Funkymanz Edit: I have the basic instructions for mine i found on the net so if your's is the same then i can give them to you if you want.

Hey guys, Can I install a turbo timer is the MU has a self arming immobiliser? What happens if the immobiliser kicks in before the turbo timer switches the engine off?
Sorry if this is a silly question.
Cheers. Adrian.
