Hi all New member here. I have a 1990 LWB Bighorn, i have just resently put a set of 31 muddies on it, and that raised my baby up a bit. What i really want is to actually lift the car up more. Does anyone know where i can go to price up lifting kits? I live in wellington so, if there is any shops out there that know what they are talking about, would be great. Thanks

A place in CHCH advertises in NZ4WD magazine a compete lift kit for around $800 (rear springs and 4 shocks) sorry dont have more details. I bought new rear springs for mine from Total Performance in Lower Hutt at a good price These gave a 30 mm lift which is ok with the original shocks SAS autoparts also sell these springs and are agents for Tockico shocks. Stocks can sell KYB shocks Both of these are good value for money. These are all cash and carry and there are lots of other options.A 30mm lift is probably going to lift your wagon 60mm as the old springs will of sagged If you want a 4wd specialist to fit then G Guy motors in Wellington has a good reputation as has 4wd center in Lower Hutt but both will chjarge handsomly for the pleasure of working on your car. None of the fitting is technicly hard but rear springs weigh 22kg and you need good axle stands etc

Thanks for the info, although 30mm, 60mm does'nt seem to noticable. I really want height that is both noticeable off road and to the eye of the public. Is there any other options? Thanks

I think youll be suprised how much differance this makes. You can get 50 mm springs as well and you can do shakle lifts. The limitation is in the front end where you have a limited amount of travel in the current suspension and as you lift it you reduce the amount of available down travel which affects articulation. Also lifting too much makes wheel alignment difficult. You can get round this to a degree with a ball joint flip but then you put huge loads on cv joints at full stretch. You can also do a body lift quite easily but this requires certification although if done properly its just a formality and $400. If you have lots of money then you could do a live axle swap using a hilux diff Then you can lift as much as you like but it will cost as much as your truck Im in Newlands give me a call on 9386074 if you want a look at mine with 30mm lift over the weekend alan
