Has anyone converted their diesel engine to run on veggie/rape seed oil??
I am thinking of doing so, and would be happy to hear from anyone who has done this conversion.
In UK at the moment diesel is just under £1(AU$2.38) per L.

We have a few people here makeing there own biodiesel from old oil but dont know anyone useing pure new oil. In thereory you just start the engine on diesel to warm it up while a heater heats the oil then switch to the hot oil. Anouther way is just add up to 30% oil to your diesel. If you have a 4jb1 or 4jg2 it shouldnt be to hard to convert but if its the 4jx1 be very carefull

Only other thing is that your diesel contains tax except for the red agricultural stuff and your taxmen tend to get a little annoyed about not collecting what they believe is there cut. Is there another way of paying your fuel tax?

The green issues in UK at the moment allow use of veg oil, you can either buy it with the fuel duty already paid, or it is possible to self declare the amount that you use, and pay the fuel duty on that amount.
I'm not sure if it will actually work out any cheaper to run the car on it yet, i am still doing the maths.

sorry for digging this up again but Ive just joined and 'lookin around' I have said in another thread that Ive used quality bio deseil for over 3 years in a ute, 16t truck and stationary perkins engine. After switching over I replaced all fuel filters after 1 week, then 1 month then 3 months They have now been in for over 2.5 years and still dont need changing. Yes there is crap bio stuff out there but look for a quality organisation that is proud of its product and I dont mean the usual fuel companies.
