Well Frank, I guess you can consider yourself TOLD [/color]... ROFL. I still use Mosleys at Slacks Creek for mechanical, and things I am too lazy to do myself. (3208 8833) No real hurry though, you have a few weeks to source a mechanic and get it done before LEVUKA ;D Whats with the handbrake. Is it cable or something else ?

Hiya Caffa...Yes I have been told We actually going to Morton .....I'm leaving next Sunday, apparently there are BIG HILLS there...lol Well this morning I visited my old mechanic....he use to service my old civic. I had been reluctant to there there because I dont think he is a real clue mechanic.....but I give him 9 points for nice guy and honest. So fingers crossed Mechanics in the past have just done minor adjustments to my cable...and said yep its fixed. I think they only ever tested it in the garage, because even on a 10 degree slope she still rolled. So fingers crossed this time. Unfortunantly im not mechanically minded.

The handbrake has to be the worst thing about Isuzus. The ratchet that does the self adjusting is fiddly and can play up but most problems are caused by sticky cables or sticky calliper slides. Any other handbrak would drag with these faults but the adjuster in our ones slacken off to compensate. The number of times Ive adjusted my handbrake around the corner from the wof testing station to get my wof only to be able to pull the handle to the end stop once I get home is far too many. Now after fighting it for 6 years its working well and has for 4 months straight.

You are going to LOVE Moreton. Not a bad time of year and apparently all the sharks are in Adelaide It can be a worry at first but you soon get over the fear of the unknown and realise it is not as bad as everyone says and then you set about enjoying yourself. Just watch the edges of some one way tracks if you have to do a 3 point turn, especially on Ocean Beach, they can be a bit soft ... Hope all goes well with the handbrake, it sounds like a real pain. Dont let Dave run you too much astray ... ;D

lol ........
Well I appears that my honest mechanic may also be a good one ;D
At the moment its working, if it servives till the end of Jan then hes amazing.
He removed the calipars, did clean up and made adjustments to the screw.
He also removed the handbrake cables.....he said they where sticking......gave the a good lube, and there pathway also.
took him 2hrs.
He said that I will need to replace the cables in about a year.
So I'm tossing up between doing a conversion to the 3.1 setup, or just replacing the cables and keeping the existing system.
Any opinions?

I think the original system works well, for what it is. Personally I would be replacing the cables if everything else isnt worn or rattled to death. I got new ones made for somewhere around 40 bucks each and havent looked back.

Take the old ones in and they will sort it out for you.
If it is easier, I am further south than you, I could take them in and pick them up to save you two trips to the coast. It's no hassle to go that way on my way to or fro work. I dare say there would be someone in Brissy somewhere but I dont know of any.
