Gidday guys I've just managed to relocate the speakers in the 1994 Mu. Got utterly sick of the lousy noise from the speakers behind the seats. When do people go to a concert and face away from the stage for goodness sake? :)Removed the door panels and then took out the material panels that are fitted to them. The material was stripped and the foam removed. Then took a 250mm length of 150mm OD Marley pressure pipe (Will use 200mm OD pipe next time can't fit the speaker covers otherwise)and cut this in half on a 45 degree angle. These were then glued to the metal panels by the 45degree cut sides. Next some cheese cloth was stretched over the pipe and metal panel and taped to the back. Then fibreglass resin was brused on and once dry layered with fibreglass. Holes were then cut for the speakers and Material was glued over the top (Harrolds have the really stretchy fabric that is ideal for this) Hole was drilled in the metal panel for the speaker wires and the speakers were fitted. Whole unit was then refitted to the door panels. Will post some pics should there be any interest. It makes an giant difference to the sound quality. ;D Have just managed to take a pic of the speakers. Here's the link for it groups.msn.com/Thornfieldimages/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=5

Sounds interesting, I'd like to see pics. I've been making speaker pods for the front doors for about 18 months (ie: I'm really lazy about it). I've made up a wooden frame and have it attached where the pocket originally is, I just have to make some time and get brave with the fibre glass resin. L8r, Graham.

Good work. Do you still have speakers in the sides? Perhaps small woofers could go there!
The factory front splits (updated interior) and Alpine rear speakers seem to do the trick for me. ;D Now, if I could be bothered installing the amp + subby.

The amp is a pain in the butt to install. There is just no place to put it that will conceal it's presence. In the back was my first idea but that just took way to much room. So I ended up putting it on the floor in front of the passenger seat and built a false floor over the top. Many people wonder where I've put the amp and when I tell them its under their feet they don't believe me untill I show them. The sub still sit's in the back but that's easy to remove should I need the space for lugging things around.

I had to place my 2 JVC amps on the rear tail gate door as they were too big to anywhere else, now I have a blue glow that fills the back of the MU due that the amps blue display screen,....COOOOL A bit hard to see when reserving at night though. 2 x 12" subs in a box that can be disconnected and removed when I need more room for camping.

I replaced my front with splits and rears with 6in 3ways, but the wall speakers need some deadner inside. The resonance of the outside panel is very destructive to tthe sound.
I mounted the 4channel amp undeer the drivers seat and the two channel bridged under the passenger and the sub is in a box at the back. I can just lift the sub out and switch off the sub controller in the head unit when I need the space, but sound is $hite without the sub!!!
LOVE the speaker mounts in the doors Fred, looks tops and the sound would be superb. I wouls love to replace my front spears with that, not the rears!!! The rears need to angled forward slighlty to stop the sound cancellation when the two waves hit each other perfectly in the middle!!
Matt.

Also where did you get your bullbar from? Ive been searching the net on where in hell I can get my hands on one but no one seems to have it. man mu's are so easy to get nice sounds out of
i have built a custome floor and sub box housing 2 very formidable 10" subs and am running currently 1 pioneer 800W amp a mono-block with 2 channels for the subs only
will soon be running 2 sets of components (ony 1 with domes) and a second 800W mono block 2 channel for the 2 sets of components
If anyone has a hard time placing the amps - they are either too big or too dim to fit them and should rely upon a professional!!!
That was tongue in cheek (partially) or just get creative with yourself! sorry to the poster but thopse speakers look ridicukous and they are not situated in a very ergonomic or sound projectional position - kick panels would have been a better bet or lower door mounted pods are even better
The MU has an acoustic reverb which (yes to someone who mentioned it before) deadening materials should be used to stop that vibe and rattle that is so easily obtained from the thin panels and plastic interior. The other option is to fibreglass over the panels and refit with chromed panel pins (make them a fgeature do not try to hide them away!!)

I have the rear speakers mounted on the roof The irony is that it was broken into by delinquents who know what they were doing and bypassed the alarm. They stole the basic jvc headunit and missed the speakers.
